.basketball themed party.

OVERVIEW

My nephew turned 2 on April 9, 2012.  My sister thought of giving him a basketball themed party, because he really loves basketball.  First step of the party planning was looking for the perfect invitations.  She wanted something different, and we thought of basketball VIP pass birthday invitations. and fortunately, we found a designer on etsy to design it.  We handed out the invitation laminated, complete with lanyards.  The guests were also told to show up in their favorite basketball team's jerseys.

DECOR, FOOD & FAVORS

The party colors were blue, orange and white.  We made blue and orange yarn wreath and hung them on the double doors.  As they walked into the party, there was a Photo Booth, where they could take their pictures and get two strips of their pictures--one for the guest book and the other for theirs to keep.

We carried out the whole basketball theme in the dessert table down to the concession food that were offered to the guests, in addition to dinner.  For dinner, we had a lot of filipino dishes and fruits.  The dessert table included cupcakes, cookies, marshmallow kabobs, brownies, cakes pops, rice crisps, and candies, and of course, the birthday cake.

For favors, the guests got to take home basketball stress balls, and water bottles.

.Bella's beary first birthday. (a bear themed birthday)

OVERVIEW

Bella's birthday, which was on january 20, 2012, was planned out a couple of months before.  Yet, the party planning was put on hold for a couple of weeks though because we went on a short trip to the philippines.  Bella travelled overseas at 9 months!  The vacation was pretty short.  January came pretty fast, and sure enough the party planning went back on gear.

Bella has a pink teddy bear that she's really attached to, which made us decide on having a bear themed birthday for her first birthday.  We decided to set the theme starting with the design of her party invitation.  We used the word "beary" instead of "very" many times, in the magnet invites and throughout the party.

DECOR, FOOD & FAVORS

We lined the walkway with purple and pink balloons, and hung tutu wreath on the double doors, which i made.  The guests were asked to thumbprint a balloon on the guestbook where a little girl with a teddy bear and holding on to lot of balloons was drawn by one of Bella's uncles.  At the courtyard, we had put up a moon jump for the kids, and also hung a few pink and purple lanterns.  the party hats had little tutu pompom on top of them to carry out the birthday theme of teddy bears and tutus :)  Furthermore, the theme was incorporated into the food table through the banner, which was a teddy bear silhouette, the water bottle wrappers, and the dessert labels.

The main food table consisted of filipino dishes, including lechon, lumpia, pancit, filipino-styled sweet spaghetti, and fruits.  The dessert table this time is a lot bigger than Bella's baptism dessert table, in the which we also incorporated the color scheme of the party of pink and purple.  We had a tower of cupcakes with pink and purple frosting, and on top was a small birthday cake especially customized for the occasion.  We also had a lot of candies, which the kids especially loved, meringue cookies, cake pops, teddy bear marshmallow kabobs, french macaroons, cookies, and so much more.  We also had a popcorn machine, a cotton candy machine, and some sandwiches and potato chips for the snacks in the courtyard, where the guests could easily grab while enjoying the festivities in the courtyard.

For favors, I made taro cupcakes in mason jars.  The guests also got to take home their own teddy bears to remember Bella's "beary" first birthday.
